THOMAS KAMWENDO (CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, NON-INDEPENDENT)

Thomas Kamwendo was appointed CEO of the company on 1 November 2011. He was born on 14 May 1958 in Mpika Zambia.

Mr Kamwendo has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering obtained from Brighton Polytechnic in the United Kingdom in 1983.

He has 30 years of experience in the Zambian mining industry having started his professional career as an engineer in what is today KCM’s Nchanga Division.

Mr Kamwendo has been CEO of three engineering companies and managing partner of his own multidisciplinary consulting firm. He has also chaired the boards of many companies and institutions among them the National Savings and Credit Bank, the Environmental Council of Zambia, ZCI, the Copperbelt Development Foundation, the Engineering Institution of Zambia, the Kitwe Health Management Board and the Copperbelt University.

Other organisations on whose boards he has served include Ndola Lime Company, Konkola Copper Mines (KCM), the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) and the Zambia Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

He previously served on a Presidential Commission of Enquiry into university education in Zambia.
